BirdLife Walkerbay Raptor Course 06 & 07 JULY

Good morning all,

 

We have an exciting raptor course planned for 06 & 07 July in Stanford.   The course will be presented by MIKE FORD, respected and experienced birding expert from Vermont.   All are welcome so please tell your friends and family.   Young people are very welcome as it is during the school holidays.    It is very reasonable at R65 per person for two mornings including tea or coffee.    Below is the programme:

                RAPTOR IDENTIFICATION COURSE BY MIKE FORD 06 & 07 JULY 2010

 

THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY NOT TO BE MISSED.   BOOK EARLY AS ONLY 40 PEOPLE CAN ATTEND

 

VENUE :   STANFORD MUNICIPAL BOARD ROOM, QUEEN VICTORIA STREET

 

COST:      R65 PER PERSON

 

*   The course is done using a powerpoint audio-visual presentation to assist the attendees in sorting out and identifying raptors, concentrating on the two main groupings of confusing species i.e. large brown raptors and small grey and white raptors.  Attendees will be provided with a CD containing the course material, which they can print, use and keep. If anyone attending is not able to do this, then  printed copies can be provided on request at extra cost.

 

                                          PROGRAMME

TUESDAY 06 JULY

0830  Tea & Coffee provided

0900  The first day is focused on the large raptors:-

    - Vultures.

         - The "Big Five".

    - Large all-brown eagles.

    - Other large raptors.

    - Buzzards and Kites.

There will be a short break in the middle of the morning

1200 close

 

WEDNESDAY 07 JULY

0830 Tea & Coffee

 0900 Day two moves on to the smaller raptors:-

    - Harriers.

    - Goshawks.

    - Sparrowhawks.

    - Other hawks.

    - Falcons.

    - Migratory falcons.

    - Kestrels.

       Summary and question time.
