Runner-up Prize Winners Stanford Birding Photographic Competition 2010

I am most pleased to report that there were over 100 entries into the Stanford Birding Photographic Competition 2010. The average standard of photography is exceptionally high.

Lesser double-collared Sunbird by Don MacIver
Heron in flight by Hennie Cilliers

Shoebill in flight by Lee Whittam
Dawn and it's freezing by Mike Graham

Touch Down by Basie van Zyl

Flamingoes in Flight by Anna Tomlinson

Not all entrants were able to make it to the gin-tasting and prize-giving function at the Stanford Stretton's Bird Fair, however, on the spot prizes were awarded to various photographers. Some of the photographs included here are "highly commended". As the organiser of this competition and head judge, my mission is to give recognition to these amazing bird photographers and award prizes based on the best submission by each photographer.

I did receive assistance with the judging process by Dave de Beer, a big thank you to him... as well as a number of people who left their comments on the photo's online. I do understand that the Internet technology can be quite tricky, but I wish to thank those who did manage to "like" the photos and/or leave their comments.
